Erebuni Museum | The Woman in Nor Armavir
The temporary exhibition entitled “The Woman and Archaeological Treasures of New Armavir” presents archeological items dating back to the Urartian and post-Urartian period (9th-6th centuries BC), which would decorate the exhibition of any prestigious museum in the world. The exhibition presents gold earrings, as well as many other unique finds (silver bracelets, vases, double-single-jar jars, etc. They were found in the village of Nor Armavir, Armavir region, in the private area of Davit Harutyunyan, with the kind permission of the latter. The excavations were carried out by an archeological expedition led by famous archeologist-Urartian Simon Hmayakyan. The burials of women unearthed during the excavations and the accompanying materials greatly enrich our perceptions of women in ancient Armenia, their jewelry, and their social status.
